Services

One bedroom rental housing in the City of Dunlap to help participants that are diagnosed with mental illness and/or recovering from addition or alcoholism and are homeless.  Preference is given to participants of the Adult Community Corrections and Misdemeanor Probations programs.  Available in Sequatchie County. Funded by Tennessee Housing Development Agency.

Housing & Energy

The program provides reimbursement for meals to child care providers who operate in-home day cares.  Day care providers must be licensed by the state or alternate approved by the agency to participate in the food program.  Day care providers throughout the state are eligible to participate in the program.  Funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and administered by the Tennessee Department of Human Services.  

Meals & Medicine

Government surplus foods are distributed on a quarterly basis to low-income, no-income or disabled individuals to help increase their food supply and provide nutritious meals.  Individuals in Bledsoe, Grundy, Marion, Meigs, McMinn, Rhea, Polk, and Sequatchie counties may apply for services. Funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Meals & Medicine

Assists in diverting felony offenders from the prison system.  Monitoring of court costs, fines, and victim restitution; random drug screening; public service work; placement in drug/alcohol treatment programs; house arrest; continuing education services; and values clarification treatments are all components of the program.  Referrals to this program are made through the court system for those who have committed felony offenses in Bledsoe, Grundy, Marion, Rhea, Sequatchie and Franklin Counties. Funded by the Department of Correction and offender supervision fees.

Corrections

The program assists low income individuals in an emergency situation by providing rent, utilities, mortgages and food.  Residents in an emergency situation in Bledsoe, Grundy, Marion, Meigs, McMinn, Rhea, Polk, and Sequatchie counties may apply for services. Funded by the Tennessee Department of Human Services.

Housing & Energy

The program provides caregiver support services such as homemaker to adult family members, or other individuals who are informal providers of in-home and community care to older persons. Caregiver support services are also available to grandparents or older individuals who are relative caregivers for a child, age 18 and under. Services are authorized through referral from the Southeast Tennessee Area Agency on Aging and Disability. Funded by Title III – Part E under the Older Americans Act.

Elderly Support

The program provides financial assistance for employment and education related expenses to low-income families.  Assistance helps families enter or maintain employment.  Services include, but are not limited to mileage reimbursement, child care, uniforms, and auto repair. Any household in Bledsoe, Sequatchie, Marion, Grundy, Meigs, McMinn, Rhea, and Polk counties that meet the income guidelines may apply for services. Funded by the Tennessee Department of Human Services.

Employment & Education

Assists low income individuals and families with rent, utilities, mortgages, and food when in an emergency situation.  Applicants must provide utility cut off notice and/or eviction notice.  Applicants must reside in Bledsoe, Marion, Meigs, Polk and Sequatchie Counties.  Funded by Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Housing & Energy

The program provides services for individuals and families who are without a fixed residence.  Clients are assisted with first month’s rent and with utility deposits if they do not have means to help themselves.  Low income residents in Bledsoe, Grundy, Marion, Meigs, McMinn, Rhea, Polk, and Sequatchie counties may apply for services. Funded by the Tennessee Department of Human Services.

Housing & Energy

Provides normal household chores to elderly and disabled households in the service area. Any elderly or disabled household in Bledsoe, Sequatchie, Marion, Grundy, Meigs, McMinn, Rhea, and Polk counties that meet the income guidelines may apply for services. Funded by the Tennessee Department of Human Services.

Elderly Support

Provides decent, safe, and affordable housing to low-income residents.  The program is designed to provide vouchers allowing families to locate a unit of their choice that falls within Housing Quality Standards rather than in public housing project.  The monthly subsidy amount is a portion of the rent, based on the family’s income and is paid directly to the landlord.   Families that fall within the 50th percentile of the median area income are eligible.  Preferences are given to elderly, disabled, and disaster victim households. Funded by U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Housing & Energy

Provides clients transportation to destination such as job sites, training facilities.  The program also allows for transporting client’s children to and from day care facilities.  The program is available in Bledsoe, Bradley, Grundy, Hamilton, Marion, McMinn, Meigs, Polk, Rhea, and Sequatchie County.  Qualifying households must be within the guidelines set forth by the Tennessee Department of Transportation. Funded by Tennessee Department of Transportation.

Transportation

This program assists low income families/individuals, elderly, or handicapped persons with energy needs.  Assistance may be provided in electric, natural gas, fuel oil, kerosene, wood and coal.  Payment is made directly to energy or fuel supplier.  Low income residents in Bledsoe, Grundy, Marion, Meigs, McMinn, Rhea, Polk, and Sequatchie counties may apply for services. Funded by the Tennessee Department of Human Services.

The program assists frail older adults and adults with disabilities to remain in their own homes, avoiding premature institutionalization.  Supportive services may include homemaker services and personal care assistance.  Funded in part by the Older Americans Act and the Tennessee Commission on Aging and Disability through the Southeast Tennessee Area Agency on Aging.

Elderly Support

Provides financial assistance for purchase of prescription medications, nutritional supplements, and ambulatory devises to elderly households.  Any elderly household in Bledsoe, Sequatchie, Marion, Grundy, Meigs, McMinn, Rhea, and Polk counties that meet the income guidelines may apply for services. Funded by the Tennessee Department of Human Services.

Meals & Medicine

Assists customers of Sequatchie Valley Electric Co-op in Bledsoe, Grundy, Marion, and Sequatchie counties who have an appropriate disconnect/cutoff notice. Funded by and Sequatchie Valley Electric Co-op customers.

Housing & Energy

Transportation is available to all residents of the nine county service area in Southeast Tennessee. The program allows almost unlimited access to facilities, shopping, doctors, etc through public transportation. Our goal in all transportation departments is to provide the most efficient, economical, safe transport for our clients as possible. The general public and contract clients are eligible to participate in public transportation. Funded by Tennessee Department of Transportation and fares.

Provides decent, safe, and affordable housing to homeless individuals and families.  This program targets individuals and families who are homeless and who have serious mental illness and/or chronic problems with drug and alcohol.  Benefits are available to qualifying residents in Bledsoe, Bradley, Grundy, Marion, Meigs, McMinn, Rhea, Polk, and Sequatchie Counties. Funded by U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Housing & Energy

This program acts on behalf of recipients to manage finances on a monthly basis insuring that basic needs such as shelter, food and clothing, are met and provides a more stable lifestyle for the recipient. In order to be eligible for the program, the Social Security Administration (SSA), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Veterans Affairs (VA) must require an individual to have a Representative Payee. Available in Bedford, Bledsoe, Bradley, Franklin, Grundy, Hamilton, Marion, McMinn, Meigs, Polk, Rhea, Sequatchie and Warren counties and throughout the United States if the local Social Security Office and client agree. Funded entirely through participant fees.

Representative Payee

Designed to stabilize housing, increase income and skills, and improve the self-determination of homeless persons and families through rental assistance and case management services. The program targets homeless individuals with a disabling condition including physical, mental or emotional impairment, a developmental disability, and a diagnosable substance abuse disorder. Homeless persons in Bledsoe, Bradley, Grundy, Marion, Meigs, McMinn, Rhea, Polk, Sequatchie, and Hamilton County are eligible to participate in the program. Funded by U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Housing & Energy

The weatherization program provides a whole house approach that incorporates advanced technologies and addresses the comprehensive energy usage in low-income homes, as well as related health and safety improvements. In order to be eligible for this program, you must provide proof of income and be in need of home, and/or safety improvements to your dwelling and live in Bledsoe, Grundy, Hamilton, Marion, McMinn, Meigs, Polk, Rhea or Sequatchie County.  Funded by Tennessee Department of Human Services.
